Chautauqua Institution
Found these Forsythe Special shots while sorting through all the pictures on the old computer .
We thought it was going to be a great thrill to play on the big stage at Chautauqua , and I suppose it was. Remember the back of the Kingston Trio album (Sold Out, if I recall correctly) where they had a shot of them from behind at Chautauqua and you could see the audience packed solid into those benches?
Well, Nancy took one of us from the same angle so you could see the audience:
Huge turnout, as you can see. Heh heh. But to be fair , it was cold and the Fall Festival seemed to be a new thing aimed more at quilters than music fans.
We froze our asses off,(you can see Bruce is wearing gloves if you look closely)
but still in all it was fun. We got to stay all weekend in the old Athenaeum Hotel, free food etc, play twice on the big stage and then run down and set up in a tent on the plaza and play some more.
Another glorious musical moment.

patrish,
Yes indeed it was last year. I tried to get in again this year, but they weren't having any music, and also the guy who got us the job quit and ran for Erie County Executive or some such thing (I see he won by 6 votes in this morning's paper, a landslide!).
Cool story about the music festival. Where were the cameras when you were a kid? That would have been an event worth documenting.
That strange Holy Land thing is still there. I never could figure that out, probably due to my deep religious convictions.
Off topic, but worth mentioning is the fact that our old place in Clymer just sold again. Got to phone the old neighbors up and get the scoop. Hmmm, sounds like a possible post!
